If you’re looking to see what stock closures are offered by Closure Systems International (CSI), the Capfinder tool is the best place to start. In this guide, we’ll explain what the Capfinder tool is and how to use it to browse the more than 90 stock closures offered by CSI.
What is Capfinder?
Capfinder is a searchable online database on the CSI website that includes more than 90 stock closures offered by CSI. Capfinder allows you to filter by market segment, closure diameter, and more to find the perfect closure for your product’s needs. You can also use the compare feature to narrow down your options and discover the exact differences between similar models of caps.
Even though Capfinder contains dozens of caps that fit a variety of bottles and packaging, we understand that they aren’t one size fits all (literally and metaphorically). If Capfinder doesn’t have the exact stock closure you need, contact CSI about getting a quote for a custom closure that fits your product specifications.
How to use Capfinder
There are two main ways to use Capfinder: browsing the caps by category or feature, and using the comparison tool to compare up to four models directly.
Filter the caps by category or feature
With more than 90 caps in the Capfinder system, simply scrolling through all of them can take a long time. It’s much more efficient to sort them using the following categories or features so you can find the stock closures you need in less time.
Market segment
Different industries need different closures, which is why Capfinder offers the ability to sort by industry. Choose from automotive fluids, beer, bottled water, carbonated soft drinks, distilled spirits, food, liquid dairy, malt beverages, non-carbonated beverages, OTC pharmaceuticals, and wine.
Closure diameter
CSI offers 16 different closure diameters that range from 18mm to 110mm. Find the perfect stock closure for your needs by selecting the closure diameter that you need.
Closure material
CSI makes stock closures from four different materials: Aluminum, CoPolymer, Polyethylene, and Polypropylene. If you have a preference on material type, select a box to narrow the results further.
Bottle/package type
Besides closure material, Capfinder also allows you to sort by bottle or package type. Choose from eight different options: aluminum bottles, cartons, glass non-returnable bottles, glass returnable bottles, HDPE, HDPE non-returnable bottles, PET non-returnable bottles, and PET returnable bottles.
Application/fill process
The fill process plays a large role in what kind of closure a bottle needs. Choose from hot fill, hot fill with pasteurization, retort, cold fill, cold fill with nitrogen pressure, ambient fill, ambient fill with nitrogen pressure, aseptic fill, carbonated, and extended shelf life.
Bottle finish
A bottle finish refers to the area on the neck of the bottle where the threads connect to the cap to hold it in place. Capfinder has almost 70 different bottle finishes loaded into the tool so that you can find a stock closure that will fit your existing packaging.
Use the Comparison Tool
Once you’ve narrowed down your search in Capfinder, you can use the comparison tool to directly compare up to four closures at a time. Simply check the box on the closures you want to compare, then scroll down to the widget at the end of the page and hit the pink COMPARE button. The comparison tool puts all the essential information in a side-by-side chart to make it easy to decide which one is a better fit for your needs. To remove a cap from the comparison, uncheck the box next to the listing or hover over the cap picture in the comparison widget and click the red X in the right corner.
