Summer is heating up, which means people are buying lots of bottled water and soft drinks in an effort to stay cool and hydrated. That’s why we’re focusing this month’s product closure spotlight on caps for bottled water and carbonated soft drinks.

All of our stock closures have the option to be made with PolyCycle®, a post-consumer recycled content (PCR) material to help our customers meet their sustainability goals. Read on to discover CSI’s most popular bottle caps for these summer beverages.

Aqua-Lok closures for water

As the name suggests, Aqua-Lok is our popular line of tamper-evident closures for water bottles. The line contains multiple closures, with the most common ones being the Aqua-Lok 28mm, Aqua-Lok 26mm and the Aqua-Lok mini LW.

If you have a standard width bottle, the Aqua-Lok 28mm is made with precision molding technology to produce consistent dimensions, a secure seal, and excellent capping application efficiency. The three-lead start provides quick, easy-opening convenience while the 60 knurls offer superior gripability for consumers.

Weighing less than a gram, the Aqua-Lok mini™ LW 26mm features advanced HDPE polymers to deliver best-in-class weight savings to bottled water producers seeking high performance and light-weight solutions. This represents a more than 40% weight reduction (1914 finish / closure) compared to the standard 26mm (1844 finish).

Nitro-Lok closures for water

Two more popular caps for water bottles are the Nitro-Lok 28mm and the Nitro-Lok mini™ 28mm EP. As the name suggests, both of these caps are designed to be used with nitrogen pressurized water bottles.

The Nitro-Lok 28mm is a polypropylene cap that features nitrogen seal integrity in a linerless cap design that securely seals up to 40 PSI. The cap material preserves the original product taste and the linerles design means that there is no liner fallout or flotation. The shell shape and knurls are compatible with existing CSD chucks, which means no new application equipment required.

The Nitro-Lok mini™ 28mm EP is a polyethylene cap that also features a linerless design that is compatible with nitrogen pressurized water bottles. The tab style band provides security and easy application and breaks prior to seal loss. The cap is made of tested and approved HDPE material for bottled water organoleptic performance.

Double-Lok closures for carbonated soft drinks

CSI’s unique patented Double-Lok tamper band design provides the highest level of tamper evidence available in the carbonated soft drink industry. Consumers see, feel, and hear the band separation when they open the product, giving them confidence in the tamper evident packaging.

There are a variety of Double-Lok polypropylene caps available: Double-Lok 28mm, Double-Lok XT 28mm, and Double-Lok 38mm. The Double-Lok 28mm is designed for smaller single-serve bottles and comes in a universal design that effectively seals both PET and glass packaging. The Double-Lok 38mm can be used on bottles up to 2.25 liters and can withstand up to 5 volumes of pressure.

The Double-Lok XT 28mm improves the mechanical seal and maximizes product freshness in conditions where extreme temperature cycling can cause package leaks throughout the distribution channel.

Omni-Lok closures for carbonated soft drinks

Omni-Lok is our best-selling line of caps for carbonated soft drinks. The line has a multitude of closures, with the most common ones being the Omni-Lok mini S 28mm and the Omni-Lok mini XP 28mm.

The Omni-Lok mini XP 28mm offers best-in-class CO2 retention (4.7 volume maximum CO2) and exceeds all global customer protocols under the widest range of distribution conditions. It also reduces the number of application defects and reduces sensitivity to bottling line speed changes.  Omni mini XP is CSI’s lightest closure design for the carbonated soft drinks market.
